Under the direction of the Director of Marketing and Community Relations, the Graphic Design Intern is the creative lead in producing in-house graphics for all media including print, electronic, on-line, signage, and website. The Graphic Design Intern assists in organizing and archiving the seminary photo library. The graphic designer assists with the workflow of the communications department by entering and monitoring projects in Hubspot software system.


Graphic Design (85% 17 hrs)

  • Provide graphic designs for all media platforms. (print, electronic media - video, web, email, social media, etc. - and all other types of media as needed on project-by-project basis)
  • Ensure the design and production of all materials across all media are consistent with United’s brand standards and identity
  • Generate production value across all vendor files, achieving error-free files and cost-efficient production
  • Minimize extra charges due to errors and/or client revisions in the design and production timeline
  • Create website graphics, such as illustrations for event notices, and other graphics in appropriate file formats for each project
  • Oversee, arrange, select, and generate art and photos for projects
  • Provide art direction as needed for photo shoots/events
  • Manage and complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision
  • Work with clients independently and effectively to ensure that established timeline targets for projects are met
  • Use Windows 10 PC with appropriate software tools related to the design industry including WordPress, Hubspot, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom, Premiere), IMovie or comparable basic digital video editing/coding suite and Dropbox and other file-sharing programs

Technology (7.5% 1.5 hr)

  • Track design projects in Hubspot, uploading files and entering information as appropriate

Photo Management (7.5% 1.5 hr)

  • Manage photo files and archives
  • Edit, fact check and collect photos for marketing materials including website, brochures, postcards, fliers, annual report, RE:United, and press releases


Desired Education and Experience

  • Proficiency with electronic media, social networking, and website software and hardware applications
  • Demonstrated expertise in the following:
  • Photo research and selection
  • Typography
  • Layout and general design
  • Graphics - customization, and original graphical art
  • Production processes (most critical for print, web, electronic graphic file formats)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to stay updated on software tools and production innovations
  • Communicate visual proposals clearly to clients
  • Expertise in project workflow and project management specific to creative/design industry
  • Ability to work with others as a team player
  • Excellent communications skills: written and verbal
  • Knowledge and skill in the use of of computer systems, social media, internet communications, and other evolving forms of electronic media
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision
  • Ability to provide art direction as needed
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work with a variety of people and personalities in a productive fashion
  • Sense of humor


Incumbent must be able to:

  • Communicate effectively in English in order to use the telephone and communicate with people in the office and other environments
  • Sit at a desk and use a computer for extended periods of time as well as to move around the office area
  • Apply manual dexterity to computer keyboarding and other office equipment


Incumbent must be able to:

  • Navigate systems and create quality products for internet, social media, email, website and other communications uses
  • Skillfully use computers, computer programs, and all office machines
  • Access and manipulate information on the database and other development program systems
