SUMMARY

At Mortenson, you’ll have the unique opportunity to join our growing strategic marketing group as part of a high-performance team chartered with driving the business forward. The right candidate is a strategic, critical thinker who’s passionate about writing, learning about our business and our customer journeys, and connecting with those customers through strategic communications.

You will be a key contributor to strategy and messaging, focused on leading the creation and development of innovative campaigns, long-form insights and expert articles, customer emails, customer events, speaker presentations, and other content that attracts and retains customers.

You are expected to deeply understand our work, our differentiators, and the needs of our customers and translate that knowledge into smart, customer-focused content. Good interpersonal skills and a high degree of collaboration across the company will be necessary to deliver efficiently and effectively and redefine what’s possible for our company.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Insights + Strategy Support

Invest in learning various aspects of our customer’s business to develop an intimate knowledge of our target audiences; ensure all work product reflects the customer’s language and resonate with the target audience
Develop insight-led messaging to differentiate Mortenson in customer meetings, partnering with our sales enablement team and business development leaders to convey what matters most to our customers
Support new and emerging markets through market research and messaging of value proposition, cross-market collaboration opportunities, and more

Content

Write, design, and assemble marketing and sales materials like leave-behinds, customer emails, PPT presentations, articles, etc.
Provide flawless delivery of written content with a strong emphasis on solving the customer’s problems, meeting and managing deadlines, and various stakeholders/subject matter experts
Develop stories that engage the customer and achieve a specific business goal
Identify and implement new marketing trends and techniques that enhance content efforts and further engage audiences
Craft content and campaign distribution plans to ensure an effective launch
Support team members in the creation of video or photoshoot briefs to develop project strategy, objectives, messaging, audiences, promotion plan, script, etc.
Collaborate with team members to secure compelling visuals that supplement your messaging
Partner with Digital Team (webpage and social media) to plan and develop content that coordinates with overall company efforts for our main accounts

Project Management

Organize projects and incoming requests to ensure deadlines are met; communicate with manager and team to balance workloads
Identify any issues affecting the completion of assigned tasks and proactively problem-solve to remediate the issues
Track time on projects for monthly reporting with business leaders
Seek and utilize coaching and feedback for continuous improvement
Learn and follow marketing best practices and measurement opportunities to track all content; identify, measure, and report metrics and efficacy
Ability to navigate and support multiple stakeholder discussions and perspectives

QUALIFICATIONS

Communication + Writing

Strong business writing, presentation, and messaging proficiency
Competency in interviewing subject matter experts to develop key messages and quantify value to our customers (value beyond features and benefits)
Enjoy researching and learning new industries and service offerings, with the ability to identify key drivers and pain points shaping the customer’s mindset
Flexible, effective communication and interpersonal skills with those of diverse organizational levels and backgrounds
Can-do approach and responsiveness to internal customer needs
Adaptable mindset to changing expectations, projects, and milestones based on business needs; comfortable with navigating ambiguity
Demonstrated proficiency in writing long- and short-form content for business-to-business (B2B) audiences

General

Ability to independently manage projects and deliverables
Adept at organizing, prioritizing, and delivering multiple assignments at once
Strong critical thinker, with the ability to architect solutions and clearly communicate strategic ideas in a clear, simple, and succinct manner
Demonstrated passion for learning with a growth mindset
Experience in a B2B professional services industry (versus product companies)
Expert level in MS Word and PowerPoint for messages and visuals; sharp visual organization of information to quickly convey the core message
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite a plus, with a good understanding of graphic layout and visual hierarchy

Education and Experience Requirements

Minimum of five to seven years of experience in B2B writing, content marketing, or sales enablement
