Position Overview:

The Proposal Specialist is responsible for partnering with team members in all operating groups across the organization to research, write, and design compelling, differentiated proposals, as well as efficiently managing the proposal process from start to end. Key results will include producing powerful written content, exceptional design, and identifying key areas to differentiate and continually improve efficiencies of how we deliver proposals to our customers.

A. Support and guide the competitive proposal process for various Operating Groups, including gathering, verifying, writing, and formatting proposal information
B. Guarantee the timeliness and quality of each stage of proposal development to completion
C. Initiate and lead proposal meetings with pursuit team and various internal stakeholders
D. Draft and interpret messaging and technical information through compelling stories and graphics, ensuring the right message is crafted for key customer stakeholders identified.
E. Efficiently manage capacity requests from multiple Operating Groups
F. Identify, capture, and build outstanding content for a best-of-the-best database
G. Complete continuous research on what will differentiate Mortenson proposals from the competition
H. Use every proposal to inform a greater initiative around improving efficiency for all team members across the organization
I. Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
J. All other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

A. Active listening skills and effective communication including an openness to diverse input and feedback
B. Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop
C. Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook
D. Exceptional writing and editing skills (grammar, spelling, proofing, conciseness, etc.)
E. Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills, with the ability to be flexible within a deadline-driven environment
F. Creative with an eye for detail and design
G. Ability to collaborate with a variety of team members at all levels
H. Ability to listen and formulate ideas into strategy and key messages
I. Adaptive, effective communication and interpersonal skills with those of diverse organizational levels and backgrounds
J. Resourceful; self-starter; proactive solution-seeker based on information and judgement
K. Professional, positive attitude

A. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Journalism, or similar field
B. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role
C. Experience in the construction, engineering, or architectural industry desired
