Senior Digital Communications Manager – St. Paul, MN

The Senior Digital Communications Manager is a super-savvy, all-around creative and unstoppable content-producing thought leader who will be responsible for developing and implementing social strategy for all facets of the organization and working cross departmentally to advise teams on digital campaigns. The ideal candidate will possess an innate sense of what works in digital communications, and the analytical desire to back intuition up with data.


Essential functions and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Initiate, plan, develop and implement strategies selected to broaden the organization’s digital presence and base of support through issue education, advocacy campaigns, marketing initiatives, and broader communications needs
  • Lead and advise other departments in the development of digital strategies to drive patient recruitment, political engagement, and fundraising initiatives; Direct departments in best practices in digital communications and segmentation, including developing guidelines and processes for other channel owners
  • Utilize independent discretion in curating, writing, and developing content for digital channels—including social media, email, websites, and more—applying our brand voice throughout
  • Seek out and identify opportunities to develop timely content that will resonate and engage digital audiences; work across departments to source and guide content creation
  • Identify and react to external events and assess the need for strategic changes with content distribution
  • Develop integrated campaigns to support digital fundraising, organizing, and marketing initiatives
  • Develop and maintain a digital editorial calendar in support of departmental goals and plan, manage, and execute all social media programs across multiple platforms
  • Establish key performance indicators for digital strategies and utilize analytics to ensure that content resonates and engages patients, supporters, and donors
  • Expand and build on current social strategies for patient outreach and retention while exploring and developing new strategies for successful promotion of PPNCS services
  • Serve as the key manager and principle brand voice for PPNCS digital platforms engaging with tens of thousands of supporters, multiple times a day
  • Lead the analysis and measurement of the social media and digital outreach work, making shifts in strategy to address learnings
  • Serve as the webmaster for designated c3 portions of the website and c4 sites and drive content development strategy, user experience optimization; lead any redesign initiatives
  • Work with key departments to optimize key organizational areas on the site; Utilize best practices in UX and SEO across all digital properties
  • Guide public affairs and Action Fund staff to manage content and tone of individual state websites, social media, and assist with content creation and overall site management
  • Select and develop digital strategies to amplify public affairs and marketing outreach work
  • Conform with and abide by the compliance programs and objectives


  • Supports, cooperates with, and implements specific procedures and programs for: safety and security, confidentiality, quality assurance, compliance with current laws and regulations including HIPAA and mandated reporting, and training
  • Supports and participates in:
  • Common teamwork; Cooperates and works together with all co-workers,
  • Uses tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations demonstrating compassion, empathy and dignity for all
  • Follows up as appropriate with supervisor, co-workers and patients regarding reported complaints, problems and concerns
  • Promotes positive public image and relations of PPNCS
  • Completes requirements for acceptable attendance and timeliness to work, uniform and dress codes including personal hygiene
  • Performs other work duties as assigned

Work Hours
Full-time position working 40 hours per week.
Tentative schedule: Monday-Friday 9:00am-5:00pm

This position is eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, flex accounts, long-term disability, life insurance, PTO, extended illness leave, volunteer time off, paid holidays, and 403(b) retirement plan.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, political science, design or related field or equivalent work experience
  • Experience with content development and website and social media management on behalf of a business, organization or a campaign
  • Expertise with social analytics tools and a demonstrated ability to establish key performance indicators and track success
  • Experience implementing, optimizing and analyzing online advertising campaigns
  • Ability to design web graphics, social images, and infographics for use on social media, web properties, and online advertising

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent writing skills with an ability to write channel-specific copy and familiarity with search engine optimization strategies
  • An innovative and entrepreneurial spirit, excited by a challenge and able to flex social strategies across a variety of organizational goals and user segments
  • Basic understanding of HTML and CSS, experience with a wide variety of CMS platforms
  • Self-starter and prolific content creator who works well both independently and in teams in a fast-paced environment
  • Confidence to take the lead, advise departments, and develop and execute action plans
  • Extremely creative with an ability to develop strategy but also execute “on-the-ground” strategies with a high degree of quality and professionalism
  • A keen eye for design and a desire build upon demonstrated design examples
  • Interest in policy issues and an understanding of the legislative and electoral process
  • Social media marketing experience in a health care setting preferred
