What is the LabFellows Program?

It’s an 8-month immersive, paid fellowship opportunity. Six fellows will work with three world-class partners, Target, Colle McVoy, and KNOCK to gain experience in the advertising and marketing industry. We are looking for fellows with account management, design and creative writing experience to support the Target Experience Marketing (SEM) team. Fellows will gain real-world experience while working on live projects. They will have access to 360 degrees of support from both agency and client-side. They will have the ability to build long-lasting relationships and cultivate their skills. These are 32 hour/week hybrid roles.

Program Qualifications

- College senior or recent graduate

- Talent who identify as Black, Indigenous, Brown, AAPI, Hispanic/Latinx

- Minnesota is your primary residence

- Ability to work remotely and in office

What will you be doing?

Having a role supporting Target Store Experience Marketing (SEM) means an opportunity to help shape our guests’ holistic experiences by connecting our guests to our brand and influence the way they engage, shop and buy. You’ll support and drive development of in-store marketing strategies and concepts that consistently deliver inspirational, easy and undeniably Target shopping experiences for our guests.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Initiate and execute various projects
• Contribute to the accurate definition of project scope, estimates and timelines
• Intake client feedback and translate back to the team
• Review work internally from a strategic perspective prior to sending to the client

• Develop concepts and collaborate with copywriters and other creatives to produce standout work
• Assist with monitoring assigned projects and follow through on phases of production
• Present ideas and work to your team and/or senior creative leader
• Remain current on industry trends and technology

Creative Writer:
• Develop creative concepts and copy for a wide range of initiatives
• Work with team members specializing in visualization to ensure copy and visuals support each other
• Write short and long format copy as appropriate to meet projects’ marketing and communications objectives

Your Skills

• Team player, works well in a collaborative environment, considerate of others
• Self-starter, proactive, motivated, eager, inquisitive and enthusiastic
• Ability to prioritize effectively
• Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

• Understanding of printing process, photography, illustration, typography and interactive
• Ability to gracefully handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
• Possess a variety of design skills
• Competency in the Adobe Creative Suite of applications

Creative Writer:
• Strong cognitive skills - including problem solving, decision making and analysis
• Ability to work alone or part of a team
• Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet tight deadlines
• Ability to aggregate mass amounts of content to determine what is appropriate based on the project’s objectives and how it should best be presented
• Ability to decipher and integrate a variety of inputs including copy and data
• Solid skill set in writing persuasive, informative and directional copy

Your Goals (within 6 months’ time)

• Understand the agency capabilities and how they can be utilized across clients and initiatives
• Have a holistic understanding of how the agency approaches solving complex problems
• Feel comfortable presenting to internal and external audiences
