Our Spark Program

We partner with local educators and community-based organizations to introduce high school students to marketing & advertising career pathways through SPARK Classrooms and SPARK Field Trips. This program provides youth with industry insights, hands-on workshops, and inspiring conversations directly through their high school classroom.

What’s the Goal of SPARK Classroom?

The goal of The BrandLab’s Spark program is to introduce young professionals to the marketing & advertising profession and to energize students to learn more about the variety of careers. By doing so, we hope to encourage students to dive deeper and participate in other TBL programming opportunities, like our summer internship.

Key SPARK Components

  • Student Resource Guide: Provides additional information, brainstorming space, and interactive content for extended learning.
  • Facilitator Lesson Plans: Each module includes detailed lesson plans with expected times and content notes to support effective teaching.
  • Focus on Inclusion: Strong emphasis on current racial inequities in marketing and advertising, highlighting diverse career opportunities.
  • School Appropriateness: Activities are designed to be suitable for all school environments, with facilitators trained by The BrandLab.
  • Industry Immersion: Marketing professionals are brought directly into classrooms for a hands-on experience.

What Will Students Accomplish?

  • Interactive Learning: Engaging activities designed to capture student interest and facilitate active participation
  • Group Project: Students collaborate to develop and market a new "school store," culminating in a classroom presentation. This project builds creativity and problem-solving skills across three modules.

SPARK Field Trips

This initiative brings 25-30 high school students into an agency or corporate office for a half-day immersion into the marketing & advertising world. Students engage with industry professionals, participate in hands-on learning opportunities, and leave inspired about their future.

The highlight of these 4-hour SPARK field trips is the panel, where marketing & advertising professionals share real stories, experiences, and career advice. Interested in hosting your office to give students a look into your work environment?

Interested in
Volunteering?

SPARK volunteers play a key role during the field trip experience. The future of the marketing and advertising profession is in motion, and the next generation is driving the change.

Regardless of your role, agency, or brand, your presence could be what helps send a young professional on their career journey. You don’t need to stay for the whole event, just the part you’ve committed to.
